In Las Vegas the queer bars never close. Away from the casinos on the Strip lies a surprisingly down-to-earth scene that is open around the clock.
Fruit Loop and locals‘ bars
The traditional gay district is the Fruit Loop on Paradise Road near the university: here you’ll find the club Piranha Nightclub and, opposite, Quadz Video Bar. Very close to the Strip, Flex Cocktail Lounge has a small dance floor, and on Flamingo Road the relaxed The Garage awaits. If you’re after a locals‘ atmosphere, you’ll find it at Badlands Saloon and The Phoenix Bar & Lounge on Sahara Avenue. As most bars are open 24 hours, the crowds are spread out – it gets really busy at weekends after midnight.
When to go?
- October – Las Vegas Pride: Las Vegas celebrates its Pride in autumn with a night-time parade and festival; the Fruit Loop bars are packed then (check dates with the organiser).
- All year – Fridays at Piranha: “Latin Caliente” with reggaeton and Latin pop is one of the reliably packed nights of the week.
Our favourites
- Piranha Nightclub – the quintessential queer club night in Vegas.
- Badlands Saloon – honest locals‘ Vegas far from the casinos.

Practical tips
- The bars are widely scattered – to get between the Fruit Loop, Sahara Avenue and the Strip, it’s best to take an Uber, Lyft or taxi.
- Many locals‘ bars have video poker at the bar; if you play, you often get free drinks – but keep an eye on your budget all the same.
- You must be 21 to drink alcohol; always carry ID, including for club entry.
