What makes Monokel stand out

Monokel is in the same building as Tiffany in the autonomous cultural centre Metelkova, a former barracks full of graffiti and art. It’s run by ŠKUC LL, the lesbian section of the ŠKUC association, which has stood for lesbian visibility in Slovenia since the 1980s. The club is therefore more than a party venue; it’s also a meeting place and political space for the community.

On party nights DJs play, with a focus on electronic music and techno. Guests praise the drinks, and there’s no dress code. It’s open on the dates in the programme, usually Fridays.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is mainly women, plus non-binary and queer people and their friends. The few Google reviews are almost all enthusiastic. If you’re in Metelkova on a Friday, you can easily switch back and forth between Monokel and Tiffany.
