What makes The Phoenix special

Since 1983 The Phoenix has been the home of the New Orleans leather scene and the clubhouse for groups such as the Lords of Leather and the Cavaliers Motorcycle Club. On the ground floor there is a no-frills bar with a pool table, and the building also houses the COK gear shop.

Upstairs, the Eagle opens from Thursday to Sunday, dark and cruisy. The rules there: no bags or backpacks, no open shoes, and please keep phones away. During Southern Decadence the bar throws a big block party.

Atmosphere and crowd

Mostly men over 40, leather, bears and regulars from the neighbourhood, plus many out-of-town visitors during festivals. Downstairs everyone comes as they are; upstairs it gets much cruisier.
