Germany is one of the most open destinations for gay men. Every major city has its own scene, and from May to September almost every weekend there’s a CSD (Pride) somewhere.
Berlin is the capital of queer nightlife, Cologne the party city with carnival and one of Europe’s biggest Prides. Hamburg combines St. Georg and St. Pauli, Munich the cosiness of the Glockenbach quarter with Rosa Wiesn and Pink Christmas, Frankfurt a compact scene around Konstablerwache.
Legal situation: marriage equality since 2017, protection against discrimination under the General Equal Treatment Act. Holding hands is no problem in the big cities.
