Zurich is small, expensive – and surprisingly sociable. The scene meets mainly in the Old Town, where a handful of long-standing bars sit between the lanes and the Limmatquai. A weekend is enough to get to know them.
Old Town and Niederdorf
In the Niederdorf you’ll find Cranberry, one of the city’s best-known gay cocktail bars. On Seilergraben, Petra welcomes you to her Tip Top Bar with Schlager and drag. On Spitalgasse, Kweer is a relaxed queer meeting place – right where the legendary Barfüsser bar stood from the 1950s. And on the Limmatquai it’s worth stopping by the Odeon: the café from 1911 is considered one of the birthplaces of Dadaism and becomes a meeting point for the scene in the evening.
