Austria mainly means Vienna. The capital has a lively, well-connected scene around the Naschmarkt and Mariahilf, plus coffee-house culture, balls and one of the biggest parades in the German-speaking world.
In summer the Rainbow Parade moves along the Ringstrasse, and in winter ski fans meet for queer weeks in the Alps.
Legal situation: marriage equality since 2019. Open and relaxed in Vienna and Graz, rather reserved in the countryside.
