Morocco

Morocco tempts with medinas, desert and the Atlantic coast – but for queer travellers it is a country that calls for great discretion. There is no public scene, and same-sex relationships are actively prosecuted.

Legal situation: Article 489 of the penal code punishes same-sex acts with six months to three years in prison and a fine; foreigners can also be prosecuted. Relationships outside marriage are also a criminal offence. There is no recognition of same-sex couples and no protection against discrimination.
