What makes Flexas stand out
Bar Flexas was founded in 1944. Since 2004 it has been run by Pepa “la Terre”, Fernando Estrella of the theatre group Peor Impossible and Xavier Aloy, who invested in the old Barrio Chino at the time. The bar has vintage decor, two floors and a terrace.
The menu features vermouth, cocktails, wine and draught beer, plus tapas such as Gilda skewers, beetroot hummus, pa amb oli with sobrassada, tortilla and tumbet. The annual anniversary party in July is legendary and is seen as the unofficial kick-off to Pride.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is colourfully mixed and mostly local. Guests praise the friendly service and good wine recommendations. The bar is often full, so it pays to come early.
A good fit if you …
- like tapas and vermouth
- are looking for a bar with history
- want to be among locals
Not ideal if you …
- are out on a Sunday or Monday
- expect an exclusively gay bar
