What makes Mozaika stand out
Mozaika is on Vashlovani Street, just a few minutes from Freedom Square. The interior is inspired by Soviet monumental mosaic art, and at the bar you can ask to see a postcard collection of mosaics from Soviet Georgia. The bar is spread over two floors of an old house; upstairs under the roof you sit at low tables.
There’s a large drinks selection, cocktails such as negroni or margarita, and snacks like sandwiches and pasta. Because Mozaika opens early, it’s a good place to start the evening. Georgia passed a law in 2024 that severely restricts the rights of queer people. Visible queer life is under pressure, and discretion on the way to and from the venue is advisable.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mixed and queer, young and rather artistic, and many come in groups. Nomadic Boys describe how two men danced together here without anyone minding. The interior, the cocktails and above all the music are praised.
A good fit if you …
- are looking for a relaxed, queer evening with conversation
- want to start your night early
- like bars with history and design
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a dance floor
- are looking for more of a 40+ crowd
- expect a big party
