What makes Kunterbunt special
Kunterbunt is one of the few gay bars in Germany that are open around the clock. Dimmed lighting, colourful lights, red walls and a few seating nooks define the room. Football is shown during big matches, and every now and then there’s a party.
Most of the action happens right at the bar, where you quickly get chatting. The smaller tables are mainly used by guests who want some peace or can’t find a spot at the bar.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mostly between 40 and 60 and very mixed: business people, tourists and Hamburg characters. Schatzi is directly opposite and is also open around the clock; Daniel’s Company, Bellini Bar and the Dragon Sauna are within walking distance.
A good fit if you …
- want a spontaneous drink at any time of day or night
- like honest station pubs without frills
- are between 40 and 60 or like that crowd
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a cosy or upmarket setting
- are looking for a young crowd or a dance floor
