What makes Gnosa special
Wood panelling, red bar stools, comfortable sofas and two chandeliers: Gnosa is furnished in the style of a Viennese coffee house and is probably the cosiest queer place in the city. Inside there’s room for around 50 guests, and outside there are more than ten tables on Lange Reihe.
The menu features breakfast (small from €9.30), numerous cakes and hearty dishes such as farmer’s breakfast. In the evening there’s a generous selection of spirits, including martini and Aperol Spritz. So pre-drinks work here just as well as breakfast.
Atmosphere and crowd
At Gnosa you’ll meet queers between 40 and 60, many couples and groups of friends, women too. People come here less to hook up, but most guests are open to a chat. Especially at weekends, many start the day here with a long breakfast.
A good fit if you …
- want to go out queer during the day
- want a leisurely breakfast or cake
- like a Viennese coffee-house atmosphere
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a bar to flirt or cruise
- want music and a dance floor
