What makes PantiBar special
PantiBar belongs to Rory O’Neill, better known as Panti Bliss: drag star and one of the best-known voices of the Irish LGBTQ movement, at least since her speech at the Abbey Theatre in 2014 and the marriage equality campaign in 2015. The bar is on Capel Street north of the Liffey, now one of Dublin’s liveliest streets, and spreads over several levels.
There is cabaret and shows almost every night, and the house Panti’s Pale Ale is among the beers on tap.
Atmosphere and crowd
It is quieter during the day and gets full and loud in the evening. Guests describe PantiBar as very lively, with a mixed, fun crowd between 25 and 50. Sundays and bank holidays are busiest. The team, the energy and the drag queens get praise.
A good fit if you …
- love drag and cabaret
- are looking for a place with queer history
- want to catch happy hour during the week
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a quiet bar for a date – Pennylane is the place for that
- want to keep partying after 1 am
