Dublin

Dublin stands for a remarkable transformation. In 2015 Ireland became the first country in the world to introduce same-sex marriage by popular vote – and the capital’s scene is correspondingly confident and warm-hearted.

The scene between George’s Street and Capel Street

The George on South Great George’s Street is the city’s best-known gay venue, with shows and bingo. PantiBar on Capel Street is owned by drag queen Panti Bliss and is as much a bar as it is the community’s living room. Add to that Street 66 near Temple Bar and Pennylane for a laid-back evening.

When to go?

  • June – Dublin Pride: Parade and festival in the city centre.
  • All year round: Shows and bingo at The George – dates below.

Our favourites

  • The George – the city’s institution.
  • PantiBar – with attitude and heart.
