Oilcan Harry’s opened in 1990 on Fourth Street, in the Warehouse District, which has been Austin’s unofficial gayborhood since the 1970s. It is the city’s oldest continuously operating gay bar.

Mostly men, a mix of locals, students and visitors. Because Oilcan Harry’s opens to 18+ on most nights, the crowd is often young late in the evening. Rain on 4th is right next door, and people often move between the two.
