What makes Exile special
Exile is a bar and dance club at the same time. To the left of the entrance is the illuminated bar with beer and cocktails, and behind it people dance. The room is very narrow, so it quickly gets cramped when dancing, which tends to heat up the mood.
A fixture of the weekly programme is Bitchy Bingo every Wednesday evening, hosted by Cologne drag queens. There are also regular drag competitions. On Fridays and Saturdays DJs play, and then it goes on until 6 am.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is young and mixed: gay and bisexual men, plus many women. Most of the guests are under 30. Together with Mumu, Exile is the most important address for a young queer crowd in Cologne.
The flirt factor is high, and it’s especially easy to make contact while dancing. At weekends there’s regularly a queue.
