What makes Edelheiss special

Edelheiss is just a few minutes from Sendlinger Tor in the heart of the gay quarter around Müllerstraße. The ambience is rustic: a tiled floor, dark wooden tables and stools meet wonderfully kitschy ceiling decor with flowers, yellow birdhouses, ivy, two pink plastic swans and all sorts of swimming gear. Small, cosy and exceptionally colourful.

It’s men only here. The crowd is mostly between 45 and 65, with especially many hairy men: bear and leather flags show who is particularly welcome here. Over the years a large regular clientele has grown. Because it’s often packed in the evening, you get talking almost automatically, and you won’t stay alone for long here.

In summer guests stand in clusters outside the door, and there are also a few seats outside. Drinks are cheap for Munich. The scene shop Brunos is right next door, NiL is around the corner, and many move on to Ochsengarten afterwards.
