What makes The Hive special

The Hive is just a few minutes’ walk from the U4 station Kettenbrückengasse in the Naschmarkt neighbourhood of the 6th district. A few years ago the bar was completely renovated: futuristic design in red and purple, a long wooden bar, two large rooms and a club with a dance floor in the basement. There’s also food and a beer garden that’s open daily until 11 pm. On Google The Hive is one of the best-rated gay bars of all.

The atmosphere is open and friendly. Because the bar isn’t immediately recognisable as a gay bar from outside, straight guests regularly drop by too. According to mann-liebt-mann.de’s on-site research, people here talk rather than flirt, and the flirt factor is a little below that of the neighbouring bars. Mostly charts are played.

There’s a programme almost every week: on Fridays Juke Box Nite with host Ricca in the bar, occasionally the Queer Pub Quiz on Thursdays, theme nights such as “We Play: Schlager” on Tuesdays and parties in the club on Saturdays, such as the Halloween Disco Night on 31 October 2026. The club area can also be hired for private parties.
