What makes Tolerdance special
Two young Bernese started Tolerdance in September 1992 at the ISC, the concert and party club on Neubrückstrasse. The idea: a gay night open to everyone. More than three decades later it is the capital’s longest-running queer party and a fixed meeting point for several generations.
The nights alternate between two formats. At Golden Tolerdance, DJ Ludwig plays hits from every decade; at Elektro Tolerdance, DJ PCB plays various styles of techno. Which format is next is listed under “Next Parties” on the website.
The crowd is mixed and loves to dance: men and women, regulars from day one as well as students from the nearby Länggasse. The ISC itself is a club-run venue with bar and dance floor and scores 4.1 stars on Google.
A good fit if you …
- want to dance in Bern
- like sing-along hits or techno
- are looking for a party with history
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out every weekend; the party is only once a month
- are looking for a quiet bar to talk
