What makes the hotel special
Nydeck is a small Old Town hotel on the corner by the Nydeggbrücke, looking towards the Aare and the Bear Park. On the ground floor is the Junkere café-bar, a popular meeting place in the lower Old Town. GayOut lists the hotel among Bern’s gay-friendly hotels. Comeback Bar, the city’s only classic gay bar, is a few minutes up the lane.
Rooms and amenities
The approx. 14 rooms have been renovated in recent years and are simply and modernly furnished. There is a bar and terrace, and pets are welcome. Guests praise the location and the value for money for Bern. Because the bar is downstairs, it can get a little louder in the evening, and you shouldn’t expect a hotel restaurant or lift.
A good fit if you …
- are looking for a small, easy-going Old Town hotel
- want the Bear Park and Rose Garden on your doorstep
- like starting the evening in the hotel bar
Not ideal if you …
- are very sensitive to noise
- expect four-star service
