Sundeck is one of Switzerland’s most established gay saunas: right at the top of a building in Bern’s Länggasse district, with saunas, steam bath, whirlpool, bar and a roof terrace perfect for sunbathing in summer. According to the operator, Sundeck has been around for over forty years.

What makes Sundeck special

The sauna is on the top floor and is entered through a rear entrance. Facilities include a dry sauna, sanarium, steam bath, whirlpool, cold plunge pool, cabins, a massage room, a smoking room and a bar and lounge. A large part of the space is designed for sitting together rather than cruising. The highlight is the sun terrace on the roof. Reviews praise the friendly staff and cleanliness; some guests find the older building a little worn.

Theme days

On Wednesdays and the first Saturday of the month it’s “Youngsterday” with cheap entry for guests under 30. The second and fourth Saturdays of the month are bear days. On Tuesdays and Fridays Sundeck is open to all genders and sexualities, when women and couples are welcome too. There are occasional long night-sauna evenings.
