What makes La Chapelle stand out
La Chapelle is one of the bars that have shaped the Gaixample for many years. The name says it all: the white-tiled walls are decorated with crucifixes, Madonna figures and Jesus signs, all with a wink. Some of the art on the walls is for sale.
The bar opens in the afternoon and is more a place for chatting than partying. Guests praise the good drinks, especially the mojitos, and the attentive team. It’s popular for pre-drinks, and you can also get discounted tickets for the Arena clubs here.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mostly male, roughly between 30 and 50, with all types and body shapes. Later in the evening they’re joined by guests moving on from here to the clubs.
A good fit if you …
- want a drink in the afternoon
- want to chat in peace
- want to get cheaper Arena tickets before the club
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for an under-30 crowd
- want to dance
- are looking for a big bar with lots of space
