What makes Tunnel stand out
Tunnel opened on 23 July 1992 in Morro dos Ingleses in Bela Vista, deliberately away from Jardins. The club is in a 1950s house that has been converted and renovated again and again: with a balcony above the mezzanine, glass ceilings and a twelve-metre bar.
The three dance floors play different music styles, from current pop to 80s hits, plus drag performances and boxes. Before 1 am there’s hardly anything going on; those who stay dance until morning.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is colourfully mixed and queer, with locals and travellers meeting here. Many regulars have been coming for decades. The DJs, the shows and the cosy, rambling atmosphere get praise.
A good fit if you …
- want to experience a classic of the scene
- want to switch between several dance floors
- are staying near Avenida Paulista
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out during the week
- want to party before midnight
