What makes the Atlanta Eagle special

The Atlanta Eagle opened in 1988 as a leather and Levi’s bar. After the old location on Ponce de Leon Avenue closed during the pandemic, it moved in 2022 into the former Midtown Moon premises in Ansley Square. Its longtime owner is Richard Ramey.

Downstairs is quieter, with pool and conversation, while upstairs a DJ plays on the dance floor most nights. There are also karaoke, leather, rubber, bear and pup nights. A 2009 police raid led to a federal lawsuit, and the settlement of more than a million dollars brought police reforms.

Atmosphere and crowd

Mostly men, with the leather and bear scene at its core, but open to the whole community. Most guests are between their mid-30s and 60. Club Mixx Atlanta is in the same complex.
