Founder Ralf Liebscher deliberately wanted to create a place where people get to know each other in person rather than just in a chat – especially for the older generation. If you’ve arranged to meet via an app, this is a good spot for a first date. He sold the bar for health reasons as of 31 March 2026.Since then a new owner has been running the bar, and guests are impressed: recent Google reviews praise the relaxed atmosphere, the cheerful, attentive boss and the cocktails. New on tap is Czech Budweiser Budvar. With 4.8 stars, Saxxim is one of the best-rated bars in the city. The crowd has always been a cross-section of the queer scene: gay men, lesbians, trans people and straight friends, younger and older. The bar is small and meant more for talking than dancing. It’s especially busy around CSD Dresden (Pride).A good fit if you …are looking for a relaxed evening of conversationlike a good Czech draught beerare planning a first date somewhere quietNot ideal if you …want to go out Sunday to Tuesday, when it is closedwant to dance – BOYS Bar is a better fit for thatare looking for a men-only barOur tip: On Wednesday or Thursday it’s quieter and easier to get chatting with the boss and the regulars. At the weekend it goes on until 4 am.ContactPhone0176 21774321Instagram@barsaxximFacebookFacebook pageEditorially researched, as of October 2026.
