What makes Bourbon Pub special
Since 1974 the corner of Bourbon and St. Ann has been the gay soul of the French Quarter. On the ground floor is the video bar with music videos, and on the first floor is The Parade with a dance floor, DJs and a balcony over Bourbon Street.
On Sundays there is happy hour with sport on the screens and, in the evening, the drag show in The Parade, for which you can reserve tables. During Mardi Gras, Halloween, Pride and especially Southern Decadence on Labor Day weekend, the venue is the centre of the party.
Atmosphere and crowd
Mostly men, many holidaymakers, plus locals; ages range from early 20s to 50+. Downstairs it is sociable, while upstairs in The Parade people dance late into the night.
A good fit if you …
- want to dance on Bourbon Street
- want to watch the action from the balcony
- are in town for Southern Decadence or Mardi Gras
Not ideal if you …
- are under 21
- are looking for a quiet bar to talk
