What makes Café Cléopatra special
For decades the Cléopatra has been a stage for drag and trans artists and has held its own against the redevelopment of the area. The queer part is the show bar on the first floor; on the ground floor there is a classic strip club. The fittings are old and no-frills, and the shows do not follow a fixed weekly schedule.
Shows
Upstairs, drag shows run semi-regularly, plus burlesque, fetish parties and comedy by outside promoters. Dates change, so check the programme beforehand.
A good fit if you …
- want to see drag and burlesque in a historic venue
- are looking for alternative parties outside the Village
Not ideal if you …
- expect a classic gay bar
