Since 1984 Charlie’s has been Phoenix’s country-western gay bar, at the northern end of the Melrose District. It’s known for two-step, line dance, drag and a big patio with two bars.

What makes Charlie’s Phoenix special

Two-step is danced on the dance floor, and later in the evening DJs and drag shows take over. The patio with two bars and a taco truck is a scene of its own. In October 2026, for example, there were taco nights, Halloween costume contests and live banda on Sunday. In February Charlie’s is the meeting point for the Arizona Gay Rodeo dance party.

Programme

Line-dance lessons run several times a week from about 6 pm, followed by drag or go-go. On Thursdays drinks are 2-for-1, and on Sundays there’s a happy hour with live music.
