What makes Gretas stand out

According to the official city website goteborg.com, Gretas is Gothenburg’s oldest gay club. It’s in the middle of the city centre on Drottninggatan. Early in the evening it’s a bar; on Fridays and Saturdays it turns into a club that goes on into the early hours. Community, fun and queer pride are at its heart, and straight guests are explicitly welcome.

The club has two floors. The main room plays disco, Schlager and hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s, while upstairs DJs play house. There are also themed parties and occasional drag performances.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is mixed and mostly local: gay men, lesbians, queer groups of friends and many straight women. Guests praise the central location and the helpful team. If you love Schlager and pop, you’ll be in your element here.
