What makes HELLo! Bar stand out
HELLo! Bar is on the first floor of a building on Väike-Karja, a small lane in the old town just a few steps from Town Hall Square. It’s one of the few permanent queer bars in Tallinn and sees itself as a safe place for an evening with queer friends.
The beer selection is good and cheap; cocktails cost a little more but, according to Baltic Guide, are still cheaper than in Helsinki. For nibbles there’s freshly made popcorn. During the week it’s quieter, with board game nights; there’s dancing on Fridays and Saturdays.
Atmosphere and crowd
Guests describe the bar as colourful, loud and lively, and many feel welcome and safe. The crowd is mixed; on a Tuesday evening, according to Baltic Guide, it was quiet and mostly male. The music, drinks selection and service are praised.
A good fit if you …
- are looking for a queer meeting place in the old town
- want to drink cheaply
- want to dance at the weekend
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a quiet cocktail bar
