What makes the HOSI bar special

HOSI Salzburg is the advocacy organisation and competence centre for sexual and gender diversity in the city and state of Salzburg. Its clubhouse is on Franz-Josef-Straße in the Neustadt, a few minutes’ walk from Mirabellplatz. The bar is the social side of the association’s work: volunteers take on bar shifts, and members and guests meet on the open nights.

It’s regularly open on Wednesdays from 7 pm and Saturdays from 8 pm. There’s also a packed programme with changing dates: a trans* meet-up, a queer artists’ group, meetings for young people up to 30, quiz nights and discussions such as the fireside talks. The crowd is very mixed, women and men of all ages, and many come regularly.

Nothing here is commercial, and prices are correspondingly moderate. If you’re new to Salzburg or looking to connect with the community, this is the easiest way in.
