KCR is one of the oldest queer centres in Germany and is based in the socio-cultural centre Langer August in Dortmund’s Nordstadt. There is a café, around a dozen groups, counselling and events.

What makes KCR – Kommunikations Centrum Ruhr e.V. special

KCR is a meeting place for community and information, not a bar. The groups range from tea dances and a choir to game nights and meet-ups for older gay men. There are also occasional parties in the hall and readings. Visitors describe the rooms as welcoming and the counselling as helpful.

Programme

A different group meets almost every day. In October 2026 the schedule included Gay & Grey, the Open Saturday, a tea dance, the Queer meet-up and a Halloween party.
