What makes Piccadilly Bar special

The bar was opened in 1958 by Johnny Skolm. Back then you had to ring the bell, and a searching look through the peephole decided who was allowed in: protection at a time when queer life took place in hiding. For the following 50 years Herbert Wisnewski shaped the place, latterly together with his husband Uwe and with Olaf. Countless coffee pots hang from the ceiling, each one brought along by regulars, Kiez legends or celebrities.

Since early 2026 Dominik Bliefert has run Piccadilly Bar. He wants to preserve the charm of this gay cultural landmark and take the bar into the future as an open, queer place. The motto: “We’re the oldest, for the youngest too.”

Programme and drinks

On Thursdays from 8 pm there’s the “Queere Gedeck” with drinks, sparkling wine, music and Tuntenroulette. On Sundays from 4:16 pm Pompös St. Pauli hosts a bingo coffee party (private event, open to fans and friends). On Saturday, 31 October 2026 the bar celebrates Halloween. The menu includes cocktails such as a Whiskey Sour or Negroni for €10.50, Spritz for €9.50 and the signature drink “Piccadilly 26” with gin and sparkling wine.
