What makes Porta Bar stand out

Porta Bar is in a lane near the Paraportiani church, right behind Nikos Taverna. In a small space there are two bars, a small dance floor and rainbow-coloured walls. For many years it has been one of the island’s classic gay bars.

The music is pop and dance, and in summer also DJ sets with progressive and trance. The later it gets, the fuller the dance floor; after midnight it’s usually really busy.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is international and mostly male: island visitors from all over the world mix with seasonal workers and regulars. Guests praise the atmosphere, the music, the cheap beers and the bartenders. In the tight bar it’s easy to get chatting.
