What makes Regnbågshuset stand out
Regnbågshuset opened on 29 November 2022 in the Amerikahuset on Barlastgatan, covering around 620 square metres. It is run by the City of Gothenburg, and on site coordinators and staff help with room bookings. The house is meant to be a place where LGBTQI people can meet, find support and information, and start their own activities, from workshops and talks to creative projects.
What actually takes place depends on the groups using the house. Regulars include HBTQ-Seniorerna with a seniors’ café, theatre and film afternoons, the Queer Weekends series with dance and film nights, and RFSL Göteborg with themed film nights with fika. There is no bar.
Atmosphere and crowd
Visitors especially praise the team and the welcoming atmosphere. Depending on the event, the crowd ranges from young people to seniors.
A good fit if you …
- are looking to connect with the queer community in Gothenburg
- need a space for a group or event
- prefer alcohol-free meeting places
Not ideal if you …
- are a tourist spontaneously looking for a bar
- want to drop by at fixed times without checking first
