What makes Roses special

Roses is one of the best-known queer bars in Kreuzberg and has been part of Oranienstraße for more than two decades. The decor is hard to miss: the walls are done in shades of red and plush, red chandeliers and disco balls hang from the ceiling, everything glitters. At the front you sit at the bar or at bar tables, at the back there are benches and a large mirror that makes the room look bigger.

Roses only opens late in the evening and stays open until 6 am every night. Many people therefore come here after another bar or before the club.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is typical of Kreuzberg: young, very international and queer mixed, and compared with other gay bars there are also many women. The music is quite loud for a bar, from pop to techno. Roses is therefore less suited to long conversations and more to a boisterous night in company.

Payment is cash only. Möbel Olfe is a few minutes away, so a tour of the Kreuzberg scene is a good idea.
