What makes Rumours Lounge & Cabaret special
Gerald McCowan and his husband José Chiu opened Rumours in 2024; the name recalls a gay bar run by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance in Halifax from 1982 to 1995. The bar is decked out with a disco ball and glitter and combines cabaret, a dance floor and, during the day, space for community meetings. During Halifax Pride 2026 the party series Sauna was among the events held here.
