What makes The Stranger Bar stand out

Silom Soi 4 has been Bangkok’s best-known gay lane for decades, a short side street full of bars with outdoor seating. The Stranger Bar is at the end of the lane and calls itself the House of Drag Queens. Every night there are several shows with lip-syncing, jokes and flirting with the audience.

A few years ago the bar moved to the end of the lane and is now the biggest venue on Silom Soi 4. In 2025 it was named best tourist attraction at the Bangkok Pride Award. The dress code is party casual; high heels are welcome, flip-flops aren’t.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is mixed: young expats, international travellers and Thais. Google reviews praise the queens, the shows and the energy in the room. Tipping the performers is part of it. Entry is from age 20.
