What makes Unholy Bar stand out

Unholy Bar is on Bambis Rigi, an alley in Tbilisi’s old town. It’s small, with a fog machine, dance floor and bar. From Thursday to Sunday DJs play or there are drag shows, and people dance until the early hours.

At weekends there’s sometimes an entry fee, depending on the night. The bar announces its programme and hours on Instagram. Georgia passed a law in 2024 that severely restricts the rights of queer people. Visible queer life is under pressure, and discretion on the way to and from the venue is advisable.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is young and mixed, mostly under 30, plus lots of travellers. One visitor writes that the bar shows the openness and freedom Georgia has fought for, and that it’s worth it for women too. The DJs, drag and drinks are praised.
