Hotel Village
Hotel · Hamburg St. Georg
Hotel Village is a small, quirky hotel at the start of Steindamm, a few steps behind the main station. The building used to be an upmarket brothel, and the rooms still show it today: velvet, bold colours and lots of mirrors.

What makes the hotel special
GayOut lists Village as a gay-friendly hotel in the heart of St. Georg, and Queer in the World also names it as popular with gay travellers. It is not a gay hotel, but it is as close to the scene as hardly any other accommodation: the sauna, bars and Lange Reihe are a few minutes away.
Rooms and amenities
The rooms are furnished in retro brothel style, Wi-Fi is free and there’s a breakfast buffet in the morning. Guests praise the friendly staff and the special charm. Criticism includes no lift despite several floors, no air conditioning, street noise, some worn bathrooms and the rough surroundings on Steindamm at night.
A good fit if you …
- want it cheap and right in the neighbourhood
- find kitsch and plush charming
- want to walk home at night
Not ideal if you …
- depend on a lift
- are sensitive to noise
