What makes the Amsterdam special
GayOut describes the Amsterdam as a long-established gay hotel, and misterb&b lists it as “100% gay”. The hotel is on the western edge of Kemptown, so bars, beach and pier are a few minutes’ walk away. According to misterb&b there is a bar with shows and a terrace; recent guest reviews contradict each other on this, so ask beforehand.
Rooms and facilities
Most rooms have private bathrooms with walk-in shower, TV and tea and coffee facilities, and there is a lift and Wi-Fi. The hotel is more simple than chic: the location and staff are praised, while recent reviews criticise cleanliness, beds and showers. Parking is only available in the surrounding area.
A good fit if you …
- are looking for cheap accommodation right by the sea and close to the scene
- value location over facilities
Not for you if you …
- have high standards for rooms and cleanliness
- are travelling with children
