What makes Cabaret Mado special

The cabaret is named after Mado Lamotte, probably Québec’s most famous drag personality, who shaped the venue for decades. The programme features revues, competitions and guest appearances by queens from Montréal, across Canada and abroad. Tickets for individual shows are available online via Le Point de Vente.

Hosting and singing are mostly in French, occasionally in English. Even without French the night is fun, because costumes, lip-sync and energy work without translation. In summer the terrace on Sainte-Catherine is a popular spot for watching the goings-on in the Village.

The crowd is very mixed: queer locals, tourists, groups of friends and groups celebrating something. Guests describe the atmosphere as infectious and warm. If you sit in the front row, you are likely to be pulled into the show.
