What makes De Vink special
Café De Vink is on Schoolstraat, a small lane between the Grote Kerk and the Grote Markt in the heart of The Hague’s city centre. It is often called the city’s oldest gay bar and has kept the character of a classic brown café.
Early in the evening it’s cosy and sociable; later people dance. The music is mainly Dutch, levenslied and schlager, loud enough to sing along. At weekends it gets crowded at the bar.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is friendly and mixed in age, with many regulars over 40 plus younger Hague locals who like the party-pub atmosphere. Google reviews praise the rustic decor and the exuberant atmosphere.
A good fit if you …
- like Dutch party music
- are looking for a rustic pub with history
- want to get chatting with locals
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for quiet conversations
- expect cocktails and a lounge atmosphere
