What makes NiL special

NiL is in the middle of the Glockenbachviertel, a few minutes from Sendlinger Tor. Since 1989 the café bar has been a fixture of the Munich scene: a café with cake and down-to-earth food during the day, a bar in the evening, and at night a meeting place for everyone who doesn’t want to go home yet. It’s known for its cornflake-crusted schnitzel, and the daily specials are on the board. Today Basti and his team run the place.

The crowd is very mixed, with a focus on 35 to 60 and many international guests. You hardly meet women. Many men come specifically to meet others: the large windows and the cosy bar character make it easy to get talking at the bar, especially at weekends. Whether you’ve just come out or have been on the scene for years, you’ll quickly feel at home here.

In summer, at Pride or at the Hans-Sachs-Straße street festival, the action moves to the area outside the door. On Fridays Augustiner is tapped from the wooden barrel. Edelheiss, Rendezvous and Prosecco are right nearby.
