What makes Cathedral Station special
Cathedral Station opened in 2014 on Washington Street in the southern South End, near the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. It is Boston’s queer sports bar: many screens show Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Patriots games, and the city’s LGBTQ sports leagues meet here after their matches.
There are also karaoke and trivia nights, and on Sundays the bar is a popular spot for relaxed day drinking. At weekends the patio is open until 2 am.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mostly male but open to everyone, with many regulars from the neighbourhood. The mood is laid-back and sociable, more pub than club.
A good fit if you …
- want to watch games with a queer crowd
- like karaoke or trivia
- want to sit outside and relax on Sunday
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a club with a dance floor
- want to go out after midnight during the week
