What makes CC Blooms special
CC Blooms opened in 1994 and calls itself Edinburgh’s original LGBTQ+ bar with restaurant and nightclub. It is next to the Playhouse Theatre at the top of Leith Walk, just a few steps from the other bars in the Pink Triangle.
Early in the evening there is food, cocktails and, at weekends, boozy brunch; many come before or after the theatre. Later it turns into a club with a dance floor and drag shows, until 3 am every night of the week.
Atmosphere and crowd
In the evening the crowd is rather young, between 20 and 35, and very mixed. At weekends the dance floor gets really full after 11 pm.
A good fit if you …
- want to dance until 3 am
- like pop and drag shows
- want to eat before the theatre
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a quiet pub – the Regent Bar is the place for that
- are looking for a 40+ crowd
