What makes Club Café special
Club Café opened in 1983 on Columbus Avenue in the South End, Boston’s traditional gayborhood of Victorian brick townhouses. It combines three areas: a sit-down restaurant at the front, a bar with video DJs and a dance floor at the back, and the Napoleon Room, a cabaret room for shows and piano nights.
After work the happy hour is popular, at weekends people dance at the back, and on Sundays there is drag brunch. On regular nights there is usually little or no cover.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mostly male and spans generations, with many long-standing regulars from the neighbourhood and visitors from out of town. It is busiest on Fridays and Saturdays between 11 pm and 1 am.
A good fit if you …
- want food, drinks and dancing in one place
- like cabaret or drag brunch
- are out and about in the South End
Not ideal if you …
- want to keep partying after 2 am
- want to party after midnight during the week
