What makes Crush special
Crush opened in early 2024 on 14th Street, near the intersection with U Street. It is run by the former operators of Cobalt, a long-standing gay bar in Dupont Circle. The venue is stylishly designed and DJs play vinyl. On the first floor is Studio B with a patio that can be used year-round under a retractable roof.
On Wednesdays Lena Lett and Tula host drag bingo, and on Thursdays there is the late drag show “Throwdown Thursday” in Studio A. Once a month the “Grizzly Happy Hour” welcomes the bear scene, plus there are ballroom events such as the “Deep Cvnt Party”.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mostly male, but open and mixed, with many guests from the neighbourhood. At weekends people dance until 3 am.
A good fit if you …
- want to really dance in DC
- like drag bingo or late drag shows
- are out and about on 14th Street and U Street
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out on a Monday
- are looking for a quiet bar to talk
