What makes Kuro stand out
Kuro is slightly off the main street at the entrance to the Doyama gay district, in a small hallway in the OK Building. The blue sign is only in Japanese, so the entrance is easy to miss.
The decor is traditional Japanese. In many bars in Doyama the first drink is a set with small snacks and therefore costs a little more. It’s best to ask how Kuro handles it when you order.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mainly older Japanese men. Expect a quiet bar where you get talking with the bartender and the regulars, not a party.
A good fit if you …
- want to experience a traditional Japanese counter bar
- like more mature men and quiet bars
Not ideal if you …
- want to dance or party
- are out on a Sunday
