What makes Le Saxo special
Le Saxo has been part of Lausanne’s queer scene for over three decades. The bar is right in the centre, a few steps from Place Saint-François, and is known for its karaoke nights: on Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30 pm it’s “Karaogays”, when regulars and newcomers sing French chansons, pop anthems and sing-along classics.
In Google reviews, guests describe the atmosphere as warm, whether you come alone or with friends. Some have known the bar since their parents’ generation. The crowd is mixed: gay men, women and friends, across all age groups.
From Sunday to Thursday the bar can also be hired for private parties, such as birthdays or farewells.
A good fit if you …
- like singing or listening to others sing
- are looking for a sociable bar with regulars
- like French chansons
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out Monday to Wednesday, when it’s closed
- are looking for a dance floor
