What makes Melitta Sundström special
For a long time Melitta Sundström was the café in the front building of SchwuZ, when the club was still on Mehringdamm. The bar is named after the Berlin drag artist and singer Melitta Sundström. After SchwuZ moved to Neukölln, Melitta stayed on Mehringdamm and is now an independent queer bar.
The crowd is queer mixed: gay men, lesbians, trans and non-binary guests come together here, most between 25 and 45. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you can get chatting without it looking like a pick-up.
It is open daily from 5 pm, until 4 am at weekends. Rauschgold is right next door and Barbie Bar a few houses further on, so Mehringdamm is good for a little bar tour.
A good fit if you …
- are looking for a queer mixed bar
- want a relaxed evening without party stress
- want a drink from 5 pm
- are doing a tour of Mehringdamm
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a men-only bar
- want to dance
- are looking for a 50+ crowd
